Bezos Earth Fund hosts strategy workshop on scaling greenhouse gas removal

A strategy workshop was held in Washington, D.C. on scaling technological solutions for greenhouse gas emissions.

Held from February 6-7, 2024, the workshop was organized and hosted by:

  • The Bezos Earth Fund
  • The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management
  • The Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability

The Ocean Frontier Institute’s (OFI) Chief Executive Officer and Scientific Director, Dr. Anya Waite, was one of the experts invited to:

  • Participate in the workshop, which aims to identify knowledge gaps and actions needed to achieve greenhouse gas removal at gigaton scale
  • Present a lightning talk
  • Facilitate a breakout discussion focused on ocean carbon dioxide removal

“Scaling greenhouse gas removal is a vitally important step in the path to achieving net zero,” says Dr. Waite. “I was honoured to participate in the workshop and look forward to continued collaboration in this area.”

Mitigating CO2 is a key theme in OFI’s Transforming Climate Action research program.
