Ocean Frontier Institute concludes successful partnership with IMBeR

The Integrated Marine Biosphere Research (IMBeR) International Project Office recently concluded a successful four-year partnership with the Ocean Frontier Institute (OFI) and the Marine Environmental Observation, Prediction and Response Network (MEOPAR) at Dalhousie University.

The partnership was designed advance the IMBeR science plan and provide early career researchers with valuable training and networking opportunities.

Highlights of the partnership include:

Interdisciplinary Marine Early Career Network

IMECaN was established in 2016 to provide a platform for early career marine researchers to connect, collaborate, and share training, development and leadership opportunities.

Ariel Smith joined the IMECaN board in 2023 as an OFI representative. Ariel is helping to organize an upcoming IMECaN webinar on the value of science communication and ocean literacy. The event will be held on April 24, with presentations from OFI’s Ocean Literacy Ambassador, Dr. Boris Worm, and the OFI communications team.

Going forward, administration of IMBeR will fully transition to the International Project Office in Shanghai, China. OFI would like to acknowledge John Claydon (Executive Director, IPO Canada) and Lisa Maddison (Deputy Director, IPO Canada) for all their contributions to early career capacity development over the course of this partnership.
