Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel

OFI will hold virtual conference November 17-18, 2020 with the in-person Vision for the Future conference  moved ahead from 2020 to 2021

Both conferences are follow ups to the Ocean Frontier Institute's 2018 conference. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, and the uncertainty of when those restrictions may be lifted, OFI has chosen to move the in-person conference ahead to November 2021. Watch this page for more details about the virtual conference for November 2020.

Keynote speaker: Nina Jensen, from REV OCEAN

The role of science, data and technology in saving the ocean

The ocean provides us with oxygen, food, energy, and regulates our climate, but the ocean health is deteriorating fast. To save the ocean we need improved knowledge and new tools, built around comprehensive use of ocean data and technology, such as satellites, autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence for near real time data collection, research, monitoring, enforcement and improved decision-making. Fundamental to this is improving our knowledge about the ocean, making that knowledge more readily available and ultimately turning it into concrete solutions.
