Situated in the midst of downtown near the harbour, the Delta provides convenient access to explore all the bars and pubs on George Street, visit the Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site and take a boat tour along the coast. For the health-conscious, the Delta provides plenty of exercise and wellness options including a fitness centre, heated indoor pool, sauna and two squash courts.

  • Discounted room rates are available for reservations booked before Sept. 10, 2018. Pricing is dependent on accommodation style selected and availability, with prices starting at $199 per night. 
  • Check in time is 3 pm / check out time is 12 noon.

Flight information 

Two of Canada’s major airline companies are providing Ocean Frontier 2018 delegates with a discount. Promo code must be used when booking:  

  • Air Canada: To book a flight with your promotion code, access aircanada.com and enter AC Promo CODE 8QXEHVY1 in the search panel. This could generate a 10% discount (various rules apply).

Ground transportation

  • St. John’s International Airport is located less than 10 km from the downtown core. The airport has six car rental companies.
  • The St. John’s Transportation Commission (Metrobus) provides a public transit service to and from the airport to popular destinations in the St. John’s metro region. Route 14 includes two drop-off and pick-up locations at the airport — one near the arrivals area of the terminal building and another on World Parkway near the Holiday Inn Express Hotel.
  • St. John’s International Airport operates a Closed Taxi Stand. City Wide Taxi is the exclusive provider of ground transportation services for the public at St. John’s International Airport. Taxi cabs queue outside the arrivals area where a taxi dispatcher will provide assistance. Taxi rates are set for hotels and B&Bs. All other locations are charged at the meter + $5.

Visa information

Visa requirements are available from the Government of Canada web site. As visa processing times vary, delegates are encouraged to submit their visa applications well in advance of the conference.

As of November 2016, visa-exempt foreign nationals are expected to have an Electronic Travel Authorization to fly to, or transit through, Canada. Exceptions include U.S. citizens and travellers with a valid Canadian visa.

Invitation letters can be requested once conference registration has been submitted.
